Toto care leaflet that contains information for the mum about danger signs for her and her baby, nutritional advice, birth planning.
During the minimum four Antenatal Care (ANC) clinics, the mother will go through certified training on how to use the box and all its contents. She will also receive information about breastfeeding, nutrition, health and hygiene. She will be taught how to identify danger signs in her new born and for herself that will alert her to seek medical advice.
We believe that providing her with a certificate at the end of the training will help in empowering her and will also make her value the Toto Care Box.
A free Toto Care Box will be provided in order to ensure that women attend and complete a minimum of four antenatal care visits as recommended by the Ministry of Health and deliver in a health facility. The box will be provided immediately after the baby is born.
We hope to train and create Toto Care Box mentor mothers who spread the word about positive health seeking behaviour amongst pregnant women so that we increase uptake of Ante Natal Care in our health facilities which will translate to reduction of maternal and infant mortality.
